MCR Pathways - Pamela Cook

MCR Pathways was founded in 2007 to address the gap in life chances and educational outcome between care experienced young people and their peers. MCR supports young people who have experienced disadvantage and helps them to realise their full potential through education. MCR Pathways support these young people with our school-based mentoring programme.

As the Pathways coordinator, it is my role at Springburn Academy is to provide our S3 to S6 young people with fully trained mentors who will provide the support and encouragement that is tailored to the individual needs of the young people. This builds the bridge between adversity and success by unlocking the young person’s potential which will help them to achieve a positive destination when they leave school.

S1 and S2’s  participate in groupwork sessions that help to build confidence and develop soft skills in a fun and engaging way.

Developing Young Workforce Co-ordinator - Tracey Parker

My job is to create a rich variety of high quality learning opportunities, linking to required skills in the world of work. I identify employer activities and events to support our young people, preparing for life after secondary school. Mt remit involves increasing pupils' career awareness and skill set so they are both informed and empowered to make smart decisions on the best, most suitable post school route.
