Springburn janitors help children in crisis!

The Gift Boxes must get through!

Shoebox Co-ordinator Roy Wheeler, Bobby and Charlie after unloading  their delivery and a turn around for their long road home.

Despite driving snow and poor road conditions, two volunteer drivers helped deliver thirty-five large boxes crammed tight with over four hundred and seventy gaily wrapped shoeboxes and hundreds of jumpers, scarves, hat and gloves and other warm winter clothes, the Scottish contribution to the piles of “Love in a Box” gifts as part of this year’s Christmas Shoebox Appeal.

Drivers Bob Colquhoun and Charilie Mochan. are based at Glasgow’s Springburn Academy as janitors. They were given permission by their Manager Graham Sloan, to take part. Given the tight timescales involved in this year’s delivery programme if the boys had not been available it is hard to see how their load would have made the lorry and trailer for a pre-Christmas delivery.  Our grateful thanks go to Amey, their employer and to Graham, Bobby and Charlie for their vison, commitment and support and for taking the time to play their part in bringing a little joy to the children in the Charity’s hospices, children centres and community based education programmes and those most deprived children in the hospitals and orphanages were the gift boxes will be distributed
