My name is Mrs Linda Hamilton and I have taken post as Headteacher of Springburn Academy this year. In a bid to keep the school community up-to-date with Springburn Academy news I intend to publish a fortnightly blog, so here goes for number 1.

I have been warmly welcomed by all of the pupils and staff of the Academy and look forward to meeting parents and carers at next week’s “meet the HT” evening –some S2 pupils will be providing hospitality at this event.  I intend to take the opportunity at this evening to introduce myself a bit more and ask for your thoughts on how to move forward with Springburn Academy. The pupils have impressed me immensely with their good manners and politeness; they are a credit to the Academy and their families.

Session 2015/16 has begun very well with all pupils coming to school in their uniforms and smartly sporting the new school blazer. Thank you all for supporting the school in the introduction of the blazer.  I’m sure like me you’ll agree that seeing the pupils dressed so smartly reflects very well on the Academy. There will be an extra blazer fitting next week for those who have missed the previous ones.

S1 have settled in well to the Academy like they have been here forever!  A BIG thank you to the S2 guides for supporting S1 in their first few days of high school, they have done an excellent job. As of tomorrow (Thursday) S1 will not have guides anymore.

As stated in the letter issued last week, this year’s attainment in SQA examinations has been the best in recent years for National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher. Huge thanks to the pupils, teachers, parents/ carers and mentors for their hard work in achieving these results. It is my hope that we can continue to build on this success and early indication looks positive.

Monday 24^th August @ 6.30pm – meet the HT evening.

Tuesday 25^th August 3pm to 5pm – blazer fitting.

Week beginning 31^st August – S5/6 parent/ carer interviews.

Thursday 3^rd September @ 5.30pm – S5/6 parent/carer’s seminar.
