Springburn Academy promoting the Commonwealth Games

CWG Flash MobSpringburn Academy have been involved in promoting the Commonwealth Games in the local community.

Senior pupils, including the school's Under-18s football team, took to the streets to hand out flyers to encourage more people to volunteer, and also promoted Ng2 Support Nights, to help local residents fill out the volunteer application forms.

Seven pupils joined a Glasgow Flash Mob choir, which serenaded shoppers at various venues in the north and east of Glasgow on Saturday 9 March.

The whole school took part in Sport Your Trainers Day, to mark 500 days until the Games. (See the YouTube video here, and follow the Man In The Red Shirt in his run around Glasgow.) All pupils and staff were encouraged to wear their trainers to school on Monday 11 March. All S2 pupils took part in an afternoon of "health and wellbeing", which included activities such as cycling, first aid, dance and much more. Other year groups will get opportunities to be involved in similar events.

Thanks to the Glasgow 2014 team and Glasgow Life for supplying six-week gym passes, which were won by various pupils on the day.
