Springburn Academy has been nominated in the Education Initiative of the Year category of The Herald Society Awards 2012, which is sponsored by Thinktastic. 

Our nomination is in recognition of our mentoring initiative, which has doubled the number of school-leavers going to higher education in the space of five years by pairing them with professionals from the worlds of science, engineering and business.

Thinktastic recognizes that "Scotland helped shape modern western society and pioneered public education – what a great time to reclaim our reputation for ingenuity in the face of challenge".

Kilmarnock College and Fortrose Academy, in partnership with Young Enterprise Scotland, are both up for the same award.
